Of all the things we had planned for this trip, I was most excited about going to a luau. My mother-in-law did all kinds of research on which would be best, and ended up choosing Old Lahaina Luau. It was absolutely amazing! Like, top notch experience. Before we left the resort that evening, we saw our first Maui rainbow…realizing now that had to be a good sign. (Keep reading to see!)

Old Lahaina Luau!

A Morning on Haleakala

The second morning of our stay in Hawaii, we were picked up at 2:15am and driven up to the top of Haleakala to watch the sunrise. Haleakala is the largest dormant (inactive) volcano in the world and draws 400 to 600 visitors each morning. One of the biggest tourist activities on Maui is to go up and watch this sunrise, then take a guided bike tour down. So, that’s what we did!

Our Trip to Hawaii!

I get it now. I totally understand why people love Hawaii so much. Before, I thought of it as a “Sure, maybe someday” type of place on a travel list. No hurry to visit. Well, every year our family takes a big beach trip and in the past, we’ve gone to Destin, FL and Gulf Shores, AL. When my mother-in-law asked if we’d all be interested in going to Hawaii this year, we said, “Um, YES!?” After this trip, I’m daydreaming about us moving to Hawaii someday.
